Water capital, Venice in Japan?-Microbrewery visit in Gujo-Hachiman!

Gujo Hachiman is located between Nagoya city (the 3rd largest city after Tokyo and Osaka in terms of economy) and Takayma city (very famous sightseeing place), and a very unique town regarding to river canal, fresh water supply and water shrines for water god. The town is also registered as historical preserved area by the Japanese government. Gujo-dance peformance is also famous and held every Septembers in one year.

As you know, a fresh water is essential for producing a nice quality of beers. In Gujo, there is! I visited a brewery callede `De-Ko-Bo-Ko` which one owner brewes and opens the pub. He moved from Tokyo to Gujo to brew his beers, and found Gujo is the best place to brew his micro-beers. He is the only one to brew his beers. Although he is exhibiting his beers at some events in Tokyo, Nagoya and other areas and putting them at pubs in Tokyo, it is very limited.

His brewery and pub is located in a traditional machiya house, and has nice Japanese garden. You can enjoy a nice selection of beers by looking at a nice garden and owner is very friendly. His beers remind me my English ales as less fizzy and room temperature. Next time I should get back when the Gujo-dance peformance is held!
