Japanese Largest Lager company-KIRIN also seeks for craft beers for competition??

One great suprise after I got back to Japan was the boom of craft beers in Japan!! According to my beer friends on beer society`s Facebook, the opening of craft beers is tremendously increasing compared to a couple years ago and people can easily enjoy craftbeers at either pubs or home.

One of my problem in this Japanese beer market is most of Japanese craft beers are more fizzy and high alcohol due to temparature, high humidity (hot summer in Japan is very famous as you know!) and lager pallet. So more fizzy and high alcohol, I mean more ABV 5-6%, is favourable for Japanese pallet.

(Obviously my pallet is English ale, so Japanese one is not my satisfaction)

KIRIN which is the most biggest and tradtional beer company in Japan, has launched the production of craft beers and its branding to meet customers`demand. They opened two brew pubs called `Spring Valley' in Tokyo and Yokohama which specialises in only KIRIN`s craft beers to offer customers not only craft beers but also beer experience. You can drink from morning to evening with a nice combination of beers and foods (breakfast, luch and dinner). And you can make your own beer by using fuser at bar counter. They also often plan the brewery tours, food-beer matching events for all long year.

Although I am not a big fan of Japanese craft beers, KIRIN`s 496 (taste like bitter!) is my favourite. I think this brewpub is for beer lovers, ladies and families. Highly recommended!
