Russia is very famous as Vodka-drinking country in the world. But I believe beers can be competing with vodkas as Russia has nice Imperial Russian Stout!!
I visited St.Petersburg to meet my Russian friend, Ela. She used to be my course mate and lovely drinking friend in Bournemouth. We went to the western style pub called 'Union' in the city to try nice craft beers. I found many people drinking beers at the pub, and it was a very cosmopolitan atmosphere. We saw many international visitors from Canada to Argentine. Although Vodka is one of national drinks in Russia, thanks to technology, people have more choices to have different types of drinks from beers, cocktails, vodka to wines.
I believe beer has more potential to attract international drinkes in the world as they are more flavoursome and cheaper than other drinks!! As the same as other products, Russia is one of the growing destinations which western companies are able to market beers.
